  1. Great quote and awesome pic’s. I’ve missed your posts – hope to hear more from you soon.

    • Thank you. I’m trying to post more.

  2. A mountain is something bigger than a hill, which may or may not have craggy rocks on top of it 🙂

I didn’t realize Medano Creek flowed in the summer, I’m guessing that’s just from rain? What a great place.

And what a great batch of photos.

    • Thanks! Yes, I think it’s mainly rain water in Medano. It was actually flowing pretty good.

  3. Great shots, great composition, great spirit as always Joe. I know you have answered this before, but what camera are you shooting these days?

    • Thanks, Brad. I mainly use an Olympus OMD-EM5 and the i-phone too.

  4. What the heck is that bird? It looks like a Ptarmigan with odd coloring.

    • It’s a grouse.

  5. Oh wow! Great shots, as always. Hope all is well.

  6. Awesome shots Joe. Always enjoy the posts and inspiration.

  7. Magnifiques photos !
    Où sont-elles prises ?
    Bien à toi…

    • Merci, Fredy. Elles sont prises a Great Sand Dunes National Park et dans les montagnes Sawatch.

  8. A mountain is a manifesto of our desire to be stronger than we thought before climbing it.

La montagne est le manifeste de notre volonté d’être plus fort que ce nous avons pensé avant de l’escalader.

    Inspiring photos, keep strong Joe!

  9. Just found your website through Candice. Love your eye for photography. Quite beautiful.

  10. Hey Joe,

Really enjoy your amazing pics and writings (including instagram) on your mountain endeavors. Really big inspiration for me.

Sorry you had the injury at Hardrock, but I was interested in the gear (shirt, shorts, etc.) you were using, including your waist pack/trekking poles (z-poles?). Looked like a nice minimal setup. Curious how you had the poles anchored as well.

    Thanks.

    • Hey Alpina,

Sorry I’m just now getting back to you. For clothing I wear Arc’teryx Adan shorts and Motus t. Windbreaker is either Squamish or Incendo Hoody. Shoes are inov-8 x-talon 212s.
The poles are BD z-poles (ultra) that I tuck in inov-8 Race Ultra 1 waist pack. The way the straps are configured, I can thread the poles through them up front and be pretty comfortable running downhill. Soft flasks and food go in the sides or the back.

      • Thanks a lot Joe, appreciate the gear review and insight.

That inov8 waist pack/z-pole setup interests me as well. Looks like a smart setup and something I may experiment with…thanks for info.

Best of luck on your 2015 season.
Hope to see some more amazing vimeo vids!
