From the beginning I cherished the high peaks. Kūkai
Running the Choishi trail from Kudosan Station to Koyasan Temple (21km) with Taku (SkyHigh Mountain Works), Kawata, Tetsuro, Koichi, Kentaro and Susshi (Neighbor – coffee and running shop). Stayed the night at Muryokoin, a temple in Koyasan, followed by a day of running on the Kohechi trail (70km) from Koyasan to Kumano-Hongu Shrine for which we were joined by Nobu and Sho Fujimaki. New friends, new trails, new perspectives. Blessed and deeply thankful for the experience.
Pure JG.
Wonderful photos, Joe.
Wow! Amazing pics…what a beautiful combination of running and Buddhist culture!
What an adventure and great memories!
What a great experience. I am sure it beats running around the track or even through the local city. Great pics too!
That bridge looks amazing! And I really enjoy how you show a different side of Japan, the side a lot of people don’t think about , which is the blissful beauty of the landscape when you escape from the city.
Looks like a truly fantastic trip Joe. The photographs capture the true spirit of the journey.
