Of Mind and Body

From the beginning I cherished the high peaks. Kūkai

Running the Choishi trail from Kudosan Station to Koyasan Temple (21km) with Taku (SkyHigh Mountain Works), Kawata, Tetsuro, Koichi, Kentaro and Susshi (Neighbor – coffee and running shop). Stayed the night at Muryokoin, a temple in Koyasan, followed by a day of running on the Kohechi trail (70km) from Koyasan to Kumano-Hongu Shrine for which we were joined by Nobu and Sho Fujimaki. New friends, new trails, new perspectives. Blessed and deeply thankful for the experience.

  5. What a great experience. I am sure it beats running around the track or even through the local city. Great pics too!

  6. That bridge looks amazing! And I really enjoy how you show a different side of Japan, the side a lot of people don’t think about , which is the blissful beauty of the landscape when you escape from the city.

  7. Looks like a truly fantastic trip Joe. The photographs capture the true spirit of the journey.
